Chairman’s Invitation

Scientists convinced that climate change and global warming is caused of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions resulting from human activities, particularly from the use of fossil fuels. More than 40% of carbon emissions are generated through buildings, including building construction lighting, heating, cooling and appliances. Many countries have established carbon reduction targets. Implementation of renewable energy will play a fundamental role. It is an important issue to promote energy efficient design, operation and management in order to provide a healthy environment. To realize such a goal, an integration of social, economic, technological, environmental and ecological factors into an overall system of building and urban design and management is fundamental.

This conference will provide an exclusive opportunity for policy-makers, designers, researchers, engineers and managers to share their experience in implementation of renewable energy technologies and sustainable development in built environments. It will provide an excellent forum for reviewing the present state-of-the-art for sustainable development of buildings and urban environments by the participants from different parts of the world.

The municipality Chongqing, one of the largest cities in China, is experiencing a fast urbanisation process. Chongqing’s sustainable development particularly welcomes international experts and practitioners to participate. This conference will offer a timely platform for participants to explore business opportunities for sustainable eco-city development in Chongqing.

Welcome to SuDBE 2013.
